ECHO college MINISTry

What is ECHO?

ECHO is the college ministry of Vertical Church. We aim to engage students' hearts, to help students make their relationship with Christ more personal, and to equip students to live out their faith in practical ways. Our mission is to lead students to be passionate about Jesus so that they can lead others to Jesus. We believe the way to do this is through Jesus’s call of discipleship.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20

what does ECHO do?

Our ministry does things a tad little different than the typical bible studies once a week. We have what we call Discipleship Groups. A Discipleship Group is a group of students who are Christians following Jesus and are committing to go deeper with Jesus together. They meet up once a week to go through scripture, check up on each others' walk with Jesus, and hold each other accountable.

Our Discipleship Groups (Dgroups) also meet up together (another day during the week) for what we call Family Group. Family Group is a group of students from the discipleship groups who are committing to love one another and be on mission together on campus. Jesus calls us to love one another and He tells us that in Him we are family. We truly believe that through our love for one another and our unity that people will recognize us as Jesus's disciples and will recognize that the Father sent Jesus to save us (John 13:34-35, John 17:23). So in each Family Groups, we'll hang out together and do things together like eat, game nights, movie nights, play ultimate frisbee, and other fun activities. The ultimate goal is for our students to invite those outside of ECHO to join in on the fun and be a part of Family Group!

We know that many of our non-christian friends will not come to our Sunday services, Bible Studies, or Dgroups. However, they will spend time with their friends. So family group is an opportunity to do life in community. Also, family group is an opportunity to invite our non-christian friends to experience what the community of God (aka the church) is really like.

If you are interested in being involved in a Family Group or are interested in becoming a part of a Discipleship Group, then please let us know and we will help you get connected. You can reach out to us through our social media pages or you can email: mikepennino@govertical.org
